3 rainbow trouts caught and taken. Really good to be back on the Usk after 10 years away from fishing. Was annoyed with the group on the canoes making so much noise but a great day in all.

Did a short evening session which produced plenty of bites throughout. Fished feeder and pellet. Waders were essential for playing fish in amongst the rocks.

A lot of people fishing didn't see anyone catch in fact didn't see a fish rise until late afternoon and then it was only one. Managed to get it on a spinner. Loads of Perch around. Baliffs came around very pleasant to talk to.
Hard days fishing.

Brief evening session. Didn't see any fish until later, no luck prospecting in the riffles. The flat sections were still and like a millpond. Fish started rising just as it was getting late, finally saved a blank with a nice little 8" trout taking a dry fly.
Easy access, well maintained stiles.

A cooler, cloudier day than forecast so, despite a low river, prospects were reasonable. Fished on the bottom with a small feeder and caught the first barbel and a couple of chub on pellets. Bites slowed down a bit in late afternoon so briefly switched to sweetcorn which really got the chub going and any barbel didn't stand a chance. Back to pellets and a couple more barbel before closing time. Nothing spectacular - barbel to about 51/2 lbs and chub up to around 3+, but an enjoyable session with a cooling breeze and the usual Wye wildlife (including canoeists and bathers!).

Great days fishing with my 82y/o father. We fished opposite the weir garden. He fished with a float with very little action. I went in with a ledger under the opposite bank and landed a lovely 3lb chub. I was hoping for some barbel as the day grew to a close but we had to leave for another appointment so missed the best time at dusk. We will be back.
