Superb day. Reasonably good levels, following a few days of rain, though surprisingly the water was relatively clear. Only fishing the Chine up to Upper Rock Pools. Had a few takes, playing a strong brownie for c.5-mins before knot gave way! Will definitely be returning in coming weeks to fish the lower pools.

Slow in the day but sport increased into late afternoon. All fish very healthy and strong fighters. A really enjoyable day. Gates clearly signed and easy access to beat.

No fish caught. One lad put a deeper fish finder in about 3 o clock and couldn't believe it when he picked nothing up at all.
Fishing passport says one the catch and returns that the res is stocked every two weeks. O. The sat I went it was well o we two weeks since it had been stocked. Surely you can't charge people money to fish in a res while saying it gets stocked every two weeks when it doesn't. Is that false advertising??
Maybe they have given up stocking it as the Merthyr polish are raping it after the wardens are finishing work. All the locals and bailiffs know this is happening. 21 years I been fishing here. Maybe another 21 before I fish here again

Never saw a real fish all day. I'm sure they were there somewhere, but there was something of a coldish easterly wind blowing and nothing that I could put in or on the water was able to tempt anything other than a couple of parr like half-hearted rises. For anyone who hasnt' fished it before, there are some very nice sections to this beat, but they're interspersed with some quite long and featureless and not very deep pools that, in the absence of rising fish would probably have been better fished down and across with a team of wet flies a la Scottish method. At least you cover the water that way. I didn't have suitable flies with me though.

At the top of the beat the water gets a bit thin with the river this low, and the access seems a bit hit or miss, so I didn't go all the way to the top. But it's beautiful country up there.
