Another scorching and bright day! But 34 fish all on dries as usual…. A pretty even split between trout, grayling and salmon parr and mostly small, not many over 12 inches except…a fish dimpling on the tail of a pool swirled and moved a lot of water. A good grayling by the rise! After a few casts he took the fly – wow a solid fish, much headshaking and didn’t see him for 5 minutes until his back broke the water – big bronze scales, a chub! Ah well, he was a 3lb fish so certainly respectable.
Some local lads came along with pallets and drums and proceeded to build a raft – what fun, plenty of room here to leave them to it!

An historic day as we three have fished with each other on dozens of occasions over the years and this is the first time we all blanked together!!!!! Low,low water, hot, hot sun, zero fly life.....2 or three missed takes in fast water and a leaping salmon in Langford pool..

Fished the 2 swims just downstream of the 4x4 parking spot. The nearest of the 2 produced 2 barbel of 6 & 7lbs. The next swim along produced 2 small chub. Also hooked and lost 2 other barbel over the course of the day. All fish caught looked in good condition and went back well. Used luncheon meat & halibut pellets, on a swimfeeder packed with ground bait & hemp. River is looking low but there are still a few spots with enough water to be worth fishing. Having fished upstream of the 4x4 spot yesterday, would definitely recommend going downstream. Beautiful stretch of river. Lovely day had by all.

2 Barbel, 2 Chub
