5 chub and one barbel, fishing slowed after 3pm... A great day on a lovely beat free from traffic noise and very tranquil. Incredible wildlife and friendly keepers. Thank you very much... we really appreciate you allowing well behaved dogs, our terrier sits quietly with us all day.... thanks again.

Arrived with the rain which is badly needed. Water still very low, but reasonable flow with a tinge of colour after heavy showers. It felt a considerable accomplishment just to get from the bottom to the top of this beat. Some inviting pools all the way up, mostly well guarded with overhanging foliage preventing casting from any distance. Virtually no surface activity, so fished mostly with tiny copper bead nymph that accounted for one beautifully marked 12 " trout and one parr. Several fly pasts by a kingfisher through the tunnel of trees. The last catch return for this beat dates from June 2019, though it is evident from bankside foliage that there has been recent access to the better pools.

Well night shifts smashed and a long week of work done and dusted , was time to get a brown trout fix and head somewhere local , as I got up at eleven , few garden jobs , opted for the Arrow @ Kington . . . .

Got there at one , warm.muggy and still !!! Tackled up with the six foot two weight , tiny Adams for starters , a few upwings and still a good few Mayflies lumbering around . . .

Good splashy takes in the heads of pools , and had two on the dries , three missed and also fished an eighteen tungsten nymph, had a tally of six during the four hour session . Was absolute tonic after the hectic week and great to be back at an old favourite . Some great splashy rises up passed the weir , although didn't fish that far passed the weir , perhaps a hundred yards or so , taking my last fish of the afternoon on the nymph in a deep pool . Not used to this afternoon heat when fishing , I usually go for a mega early one to avoid the heat and the sun , which tends to kill sport !!!!

Still , a lovely few hours , six beauties caught and released, a few fluffed strikes on the dries , all in all great fun as always, could still do with a tad more rain here , river running still low , a chilledoit afternoon , back soon !!!!!!!

A thoroughly enjoyable day on one of the very few beats I have returned to multiple times. Such a picturesque beat with plenty of variety of water to fish. Lots of insect life but the mayflies appear to have dwindled. Few rising so the majority caught on nymphs. Shame to have to challenge someone with a spinning rod just below the bridge. They soon cleared off but just to make you aware. I have the details of the sign written vehicle if Wye&Usk wish to pursue.
