River up and coloured but fishable. Some nice swims on the upper end of the fishery with near side slacks but no barbel on this occasion.

Not even a knock, too many fish eating birds, breeding in the area and raping the waters !!!

Frosty morning, the Wye looked great. Parked near the cattle grid. Had bites in all 4 swims. I think they were chub bites, just one quick tug. Finished up with 1 small chub on maggots.

Well another day off so another day living the dream ha ha , and where to on an overcast not too bad a day I thought , as I had the pooch out this morning , feeding the pigs and hens etc etc . . . . After seeing the Edw looking pristine at Aberedw yesterday, I plumbed for the Hergest beat , arriving there at ten . Strewth the road from Cregrina to Hergest is something of an assault course now , with winter floods eaten into the road sidings which in places are crumbling away , also trees and shrubs across the road, I shifted two , so I could pass I'm my truck !!! Anything new and shiny I'd think twice about at the mo , with the mud slides half blocking the road in two locations !!! However I did see a JCB later in the morning so hope springs maybe !!!!!

Anyway onto the fishing , river high'ish but with the usual Edw tinge, fished small streamers and soon sussed out that fish were in water of about two or three feet deep, and wanted the right retrieve too ; hammering my streamer, it's not a technique I use lot but boy fish were having a real pop at my home tied offering !!! Not just one go but three and four, watching them in the clear water, I lost two good fish during the three hours I was there but managed to bring to the net three crackers, plenty off oomph in them and all between eight and eleven inches, superb fun and great to be down in the Edw valley fishing one of my favourites, superb morning. Off home and something medicinal in a large glass I think !!! Back soon , too this cracker . . . . . . . . .

I was only able to fish for a few hours in the afternoon, but there were enough olives about to bring trout to the surface, and I had wonderful sport with emergers until 3:30 or so, when fish stopped rising. For a brief moment, all was right with the world.

First time out this year, river a little high but a nice colour. A few hungry trout landed in the Gravel and Rock Pool. Fished through the Bridge Pool and had a very solid pull and thought my luck was in, only for it to be a good chub about 4 and a half pound, got the heart racing for a few seconds!

Well with shifts done and dusted , was champing at the bit to get going on a wild stream , knowing it's a tad early but with the mild wet winter we've had there may be an eager brownie wanting a quick snack !!!

Opted for the Cammarch , fished here many moons ago ,but with the Edw , Lugg and Arrow so handy normally plumb for one of those beats to be honest !

Half nine when I parked up at The Trout Inn cafe park mooched to the bridge start and opted for a small tungsten nymph, see if any takers . . . River in lovely condition , running clear and at a lovely height , looking at the banks it has been obviously very very heigh , but drops fast I should imagine . . .

Worked my way up , very pleasant too , not really expecting much , and too be honest was nice just having a recce on this Upper beat , will be superb here in five or six weeks .

Worked my way up more or less level with the little church and bimbled back down to the bridge , couldn't resist a few casts in that lovely pool under the bridge , and had a small , and I mean small gorgeous little brownie on ha ha . . . Spot on !!! He'd hammered the little PTN tungsten nymph happy days , had a look at the Edw @ Aberedw on the way back , that's running at a nice height too , a really fun three hours here,oh and not too much of the dreaded rain either , just started heavy when I was walking back to truck , back here soon , a lovely beat !!!!
