River still too high really, only two swims feasibly fishable. With no bites til lunchtime and the rain showing no sign of stopping I threw in the towel and went home to get warm.

Did not fish. River still too high. I had a walk along the bank on top part of the Rectory and there is aquite a lot of debris in the shape of trees and branches along the bank that might make fishing a little trickey when the level subsides.

Yes , I know the river was at least ½ a metre too high, but it was opening day . The water colour was good and I managed to fish from various points on the wooded side , mainly from the bank with a sink tip skagit line.

The recent record flooding has done a lot of moving and removing. However, today the sun shone like that of April, birds singing and a buzzard flying low above me. Good for this Londoner to be out again and yes I did think I was going to get one .

No fish caught today. River too high for me to wade making making fly fishing difficult. Regards, Denis

Fished pellets with feeders or pva bags on a rising river. Only a handful of canoes and kayaks to deal with. The upstream rod had two fish in the morning with the downstream rod producing most fish in the afternoon. Barbel between 5-7lb.
