One of them days today I am afraid, having only fished it once before and having Barbel on within 10 seconds of first cast, today could not be further from that cracking start!
River over 1 metre lower than when I fished it before and much clearer. Fished pellet and meat in 2 of the deeper swims and just had small chub pecking away all day , not one sniff from Barbel and all Chub caught were around 1lb Mark. Cracking beat just Barbel were not ‘on it’ today for whatever reason ........that’s fishing !!!
Fished dawn til dusk.

Difficult day at Wye Bank boats and swimmers all day made fishing impossible, still a nice day out on a lovely river.

Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

Very windy and dull with no signs of fish on the surface at Rhosgoch. One fish of around 2lb lost and one caught of the same size. Then fished Syfydin for 8 trout followed by Blaenmelindwr for 3 smallish fish. All fish returned. Saw one Osprey and one Merlin. Mallard and claret did most of the business.

Mod upstream breeze but good cloud cover and cooler. Very pleasant afternoon. Grayling 8-12inches and trout mostly small but one good fish at 14. The chub was a surprise! All on GB GRHE or PTN

Quite pleased given low level and lack of flow. Caught from top and bottom of beat. All fish caught on boilies. Little canoe traffic today, which is nice.

Fished with two other members of Gwent Angling Society (see returrn from AP from Newport) all trying a bit of mountain llyn therapy to help us to cope with the loss of the entire fish population on our two beats on the Afon Llynfi last weekend for the second time in four years. Five kilometres of river now denuded of fish and clear invertebrate damage as well. Polluters need to pay and not the derisory sums they so often get away with. Loved AP's coffee! Pix of AP and ME, two intrepid piscators, and ME showing me how it should be done
