Booked for 5 but only 4 fished. Unfortunately too hot, too bright, water too low and too many canoes. Not to mention the wild swimmers. At times it was like a circus. Not a touch all day but then 3 barbel between us at the last knockings. We know that in the right conditions Courtfield can produce good sport but the beat owner doesn't appear to make much of an effort. No one is asking for manicured banks but it wouldn't harm to strip the access path and the amount of litter in the woods section is a disgrace. There are much more pleasant places to fish on the Wye where you won't see a bit of trash. A clean up is needed.

No fish all day, very hot and bright sunshine, nothing moving, even into the evening.
Pellet, boilie approach on the ledger.
Always another day.
Lovely place to be nevertheless, some might say #rubbishanglers but that was disproved the next day at Holme Lacy 3 with totally different weather conditions.

Very low and clear after several dry weeks. Of course the heavens opened the following day! A beautiful stretch with plenty of water to go at.

Bit tight in places, tree gremlins kept grabbing my line! No interest from the residents in the thinner water, everything came from the deeper runs. Few upwings coming off but not enough to get the trout looking upwards.

Lovely venue to fish but didn’t get the barbel I went for. Switched from pellet to maggot mid afternoon and landed a few Chubb and bizarrely a pike around 6lb. No action at all from barbel so put it down to low river level and gorgeous weather.

Nice grayling of about 2lbs. I haven’t fly fished a river this wide before so it was a bit daunting at first.
