Good day, fish didn't want static bait but caught well on float fished & rolling meat & bread. Disappointed to find discarded line, hooks and even the remnants of a feeder in the first swim on the left bank, must have been from the previous angler there as you couldn't miss it.

Nice beat, just for a evening, surprised how short this was as below the faster water below wooded area was to hard to fish, and no path, crossing on map was not possible, even though the water was low,and wouldn't have produced any more fishable water.
Only small fish caught, elk hair caddis in the late evening, orange beaded ptn, work a treat both Czech and clink and dink.
I wouldn't consider booking a full day here, even for one angler, considering the cost, lots of flat water that only would fish when fish are rising.
A good beat for a evening,for one.
If this beat and Dinas was all one it would be great ,
Highlight was sqeeking a big dog otter with in 10 ft off me .

"Jeez, where did that lot come from?", thought I, as I stood at the bottom of the beat and looked down on a river, carrying 6 inches of extra water, and really pushing through, at 07:30 this morning. A local I talked to later suggested overnight rain, but the lack of colour made me think compensation water. In any event, it made for a tricky morning; with some runs impossible to reach, and the heavy flow, coupled with a nasty downstream wind, making presentation difficult. 2 Grayling from the Gutter on a weighted nymph then up to the top section in the afternoon. The flow and wind had eased a bit by then, and I had 4 more Grayling (all good fish at 1lb plus), before having it away home for my wife's delicious lamb casserole and a bottle of shiraz

River was looking good. Plenty of swims available as Andy the gamekeeper has done a great job creating new swims. Roved around and caught steadily throughout the day. All barbel between 7.3 lbs and 9.4 lbs.
