What has gone wrong. Salmon fishing was always hard but this is ridiculous, I/we have put in so many hours of effort and for what nothing . If we were bad anglers that may explain it a bit but we are not. In nearly 50 years fishing I have not seen it this bad, we have had good water at the right times, supposedly lots of fish waiting to come up . WHERE ARE THEY ?? I am so demoralised I feel like putting my rods away .
As you can guess nothing caught or seen, as usual these days

Well having had a ball up at Claerwen reservoir yesterday , early bells , with a perfect overcast morning and a lovely ripple , was nice tweeking back traditional wets in the wave for some aggressive takes, and eighteen beauties to the net , so thought I'd try and carry on the motion and headed to the Edw , at Hundred House , one of my old favourite rivers . . . .
Was six when I got down to a very shrunken river , opting this morning to mainly fush tiny dries were possible , so on with a tiny Parachute iron blue , they did seem to hammer this last season , so prospecting with it , and first fish , good feisty take too the dry , quickly released , about eight inches .
On the deeper pools , an olive tungsten nymph or PTN worked well and dud have three cracking fish in a tally of fifteen this morning , superb sport on the light six foot two weight rod !!! One of the brownies must have pushed seventeen inches, a real lunker !!!
Plenty of activity from the kingfishers and being in their normal highway route several times had to do
a last minute swerve yo avoid me !!! Superb to see though and perhaps this years brood ??
Asyou go further up this beat , more and more trees are down here , which is a shame, reminds me a bit of the Arrow at Kington , great at the bottom section , but a shambles up near the top of the beat !!!
Still some fabulous sport this morning , with the fifteen yo hand, and five or six slipping the hook , this little river needs some serious rain to freshen it up, although the brownies fought like tigers !!! The fish today ranged from six inches up to the big one I had , with most in the eight ish bracket . A great five hours ,calling it a day just after eleven , a slow mooch back to the truck for a well earned can of pop and a choggie bar , happy days, back here soon !!!!
