Had to wait until sundown the day before on the hut section until I had a bite I decided to fish in the woods. Hill climb nearly killed me! No really! Very sunny, slow all day until around 6pm when things got lively. A lovely spot in the September sunshine. Then died again walking back!

All fish caught using nymph and spider patterns. Plenty of fly-life, but nothing rising to them at all. All safely returned.

Recorded a blank. I was fishing all out for barbel and I just didnt get on to any in the time available. A beat that reward some effort; walking, fishing a few swims and moving on.

Calm and sunny all day but where was the fly life? The gravels at the bottom of this beat usually produce plenty of PWs and sedges at this time of year, accompanied by rising fish, but they were all few and far between this afternoon, and little else apart from midge either. I saw some PWs coming off as I ate a sandwich early afternoon, and watched fish rise to ecloding nymphs but often also missing them, as a PW popped out! I love seeing that. They proved to be 6" graylets - good luck children! Interested to see that JJ of Stourbridge saw lots of fly life today, just upstream at Abernant. Wierd eh? I had fish at various places on the beat on a Duracel variant and pick shrimp, and risers and non-risers on a HE emerger and HE Ducks Dun, Grayling Steel Blue and a grizzle Elk. Nothing bigger than 12" today plus lots of salmon parr.

River in very good condition , water clear and levels good. Bright day with no surface action but sporadic hatches.
All fish caught on a gold beaded black ptn fished duo style under a klinkhammer. A delightful day to be on the river. One of the grayling was a good size - over 10 inches. No trout but one did splash at the klinkhammer and turned away.

A bad day weather wise with strong sunshine and little flow. Just had he one Chub out of the blue. To be honest i can't really recommend the place as there are not many swims at all and with low water landing a fish is almost impossible. The downstream half is jungle with impossible steep overgrown banks and contains a maximum of two swims. The upstream half is no better although i must admit i never walked it all. To be honest, I feel that I should ask for my money back! I'm not after a commercial fishery, and appreciate a wild feel, but feel that absolutely nothing is being done to enhance the fishery in any way. I won't be coming back or recommend the place.

The water was very low and we didn't see any fish moving along the whole beat. Needless to say that we blanked. Sorry to say, but I think that this beat should have a 'too low' policy as well as a 'wash off' policy unless I am missing something.
