Probably not the best day to attempt this river , constant rain and the water very coloured, i wasn’t feeling confident.
But what a privilege to just be here , the monnow valley is just stunning , what an incredible place . The access points are marked out very well but I found some were quite tricky to enter . I’ll give it another go once the river has cleared

very well maintained beat with plenty of swims to fish had a great day trotting no wind and very humid plenty of chub and 4 large dace . A very nice day thanks.

Arrived at the river to find it a little coloured but seemed fine to fish. Day was hot and humid after heavy rain on the Sunday. Started well with a nice trout on the 3rd cast and then continued with fish being taken slowly and steadily throughout the day. Ended up with 7 brown trout and 2 grayling all on French leader and PTNs. Some fly life seen but no fish rising.

Evening tickets, river was in good condition. Chub and barbel spread out. Catching in groups then quiet spells.

Spent the most of the evening stalking one fish and got it. It was worth it!
