Hard days fishing. One fish fell to grey duster other to a orange bead nymph . Waters just coloured but thinning down
Not sure if the cost matches the venue ?

What a beautiful place to fish! Fished from "the manhole" in the meadow, as suggested in the excellent notes. Arrived at 0500, fished until 1500. Five chub, one eel and a single barbel of 6.5 Kg (14 pound). Facebook tells me that's a big barbel! Fought like mad. Lost 4-5 chub (I suspect) early in the day. All fish caught on large spam baits.

Water slightly coloured, fine algae-like strings building up on line. Not a problem. My first time river fishing since 2011-2012 I think. Awesome! I'll be back!

First visit to this attractive beat. Fished late p.m. to dusk upstream from parking. As WUF says and others have noted, several pools are too deep to wade through and it is difficult to find a way around them so progress was slow. I persevered with the dry fly encouraged by plenty of fly life and the very occasional rise, but failed to bring anything to the net. In retrospect may have had more success with the nymph in the faster water.

Warm sunny day, river up a bit and carrying plenty of colour (brown, not green!). Fish very fickle. 6 hours trotting with pellets and meat produced 16 chub. Most around 3/4 of a pound, but one decent 4lb plus fish.

Lovely trotting swim, nice upstream wind, should have caught much more...…….

No sign of any barbel.

With the river the colour of tea and masses of blanket weed keen to snag the line it was a hard slog to fish static with feeder or lead but managed to winkle out 5 chub on the float whilst my companion managed 3 barbel persevering with feeder tactics . Sweet corn was the successful bait in the murky water.
