Challenging afternoon weather wise, never the less, eight Trout caught and several missed. River was fairly low, badly in need of a good wash through which is what is forecast this weekend.

I had a very enjoyable afternoon on the Cleddau Ddu. I didn't know the river before I fished it but I would guess it was low. It was a decent day, about eighteen degrees, a little breezy, and sun and cloud. I fished upstream from below the road bridge and picked off small wild brownies all the way up. I was fishing a klink and dink setup. Size #14 klinkhammer and #18 black and pink red-ribbed nymphs. All but two of the thirteen went for the nymph. I lost five or so more. Fish were pretty much where you'd expect them to be. All were small, averaging about 6".

I'd love to fish it when the level was a bit higher but I still had a good day.

Well felt pretty energetic so mooched off to the Duhonw today , arrived at half nine , looked a bit low , but water still pushing through whilst looking over the bridge at the parking area . . . Had a quick chat with the lady in the garden of the cottage , new owners , she seemed very pleasant . . .

Bimbled Down to the rough start of the beat , strewth the water is clear , and could see some small skittish fish pinballing around smaller pools , thinking this was going to be a tough one . But sometimes tough is good , keeps you on your toes , which hones ones skills . . . . . . Mmmmmmm !!!!!

Anyway , casting into the fast water of the pools nothing initially , and four good pools dealt with , with care and attention , not a sniff !!! Sized down my Parachute Adams , and the glides seemed to show more interest , saw a splashy rise about half ten , my progress this morning was ever so slow , wading like Neil Armstrong on the moon !!!! First fish , was a beauty , good rise on the Adams , and a fish of about nine inches happy days , always nice to bring the first one to hand !!!

The second glide , again , prospecting the dry , and bang , another nice little fish , perhaps seven inches , third and fourth , similar locations , till a couple of hours later , then the trout were taking splashy hits at the pool heads . The size of the fish was only about five or six inches , but caught fair and square on the dry !!!! And lots missed today it seemed , lightening quick the small brownies , so I did pretty well really , with seven brought to hand .

Ventured about hundred yards up passed second bridge , where it turns into another version of the Clettwr . Good fun , and the last fish was from the smallest pool up there , feisty little chap , about six inches , hammered the Para Adams , great fun . I would say it's really in desperate need of two or three good days rain now , like wise I'm sure the Edw is looking a bit tired as well , hopefully this week may fatten up these wild streams , we shall see , a fun five hours in the Duhonw valley , back when it's flowing a bit more healthy . . . . . . . . Spot on !!!!!!!!
