5 Trout

3 x trout 7-10 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. An early morning visit, though in warmer weather than of late. Rose 7 fish and hooked just 3, which was suitably humbling.

Nothing caught, used countless number of flies on a floating line, not one bite:(

River at 0.66 and gin clear, no salmon seen. Did see a goshawk over rock pool early morning

had a couple of hours nymphing the heads of pools . 14 stuck and as many shook the hook. only a couple of rises caught my eye which were juvenile trout splashing at olives . all between 7-10 inches with nothing any bigger showing. the sun was lighting the bed of the stream by 1pm which pretty much killed the fishing.

Sunny and warm with the River ultra clear and about 14” on the Llanstephan gauge. All grayling in the 8-10” range as were the trout except for one at about 15”. Team of three flies; beadhead red tag on the point, black and olive spiders on the droppers. A few olives around but fish as reluctant to rise as seems to me to be the norm on this stretch of the Wye.
