Near perfect conditions, warm , no stiff downstream breeze ( unlike yesterday), sunny but with cloud. Flies in abundance.

Started with a dry and a fish took it first cast, unfortunately I didn't connect but the omens were good. But...… that was the last take on the dry . Water level was quite low so I crossed to the other side , the run further upstream has been very productive in the past. Continued with a dry but no takers. then switched to a klink with a nymph, took 2 trout one of 8 inch and a nice fish of 12"
Waded back across but no luck with the klink and nymph Switched to a team of spiders with a beaded hare's ear nymph on the point. No luck in the lower section but waded back across and caught a nice Grayling of about 15" and trout of similar size.
No fish rising at all.
Intended to stay late for an evening rise but wind came up and temperature drooped so headed for home.

Fished from midday till 6. Water low and clear. A few mayfly about as well as some other trout-meal-sized flies. Parked down at the bottom of the beat and fished up.
Had both fish before getting to the weir. Both fat 8”. There is lots of trout-y looking water below the weir but not so much above it. Saw plenty of fish rise but they melted away when I got close.
Got as far as the road bridge and gave up after nothing spotted moving for a while. With a proper hatch I bet this place would be great fun! Thanks

All fish taken by my fishing buddy, the last fish was a particularly fine specimen, all taken on nymphs. Glorious sunny day with very little fly life to report except a few Mayflies.

First time on this beat and really liked it, some fantastic fishy looking spots. Unfortunately today after a few very small upwings stopped hatching it went very quiet indeed, not many insects at all bar the odd Mayfly so finding rising fish was very difficult. I tempted plenty of interest in a Mayfly pattern I’d tied myself but unfortunately missed take after take, very frustrating...should’ve had about 12 fish today. Will be back.

There was a sporadic hatch of mayfly like flies around 9pm with little response from the trout. The one undersized trout was caught on a Snipe and Purple fished down and across.

Plenty of fish rising on the flats in the morning, took two on CDC including a good 1lb trout. Ran teams of spiders through the faster water and tails, picked up a hefty grayling and four more smaller trout. Very quiet from mid afternoon. Wind picked up after 6pm left the river at 7pm.

Lots of fly life, but none could be tempted to take off the top. All fish caught using nymphs, and all returned.

Beautiful weather but surprisingly sparse hatch of olives and mayflies. Gnats swarming everywhere and one out of season 12" grayling caught on a peacock and spider variant of a team of wet flies in a faster pool. Trout were rising very sporadically in the slow gravel runs and a fine 15" fish eventually took a small black gnat emerger. I had to leave at 5:30pm, perhaps an evening rise would have yielded more fish. Yes to those who say this beat is tough to access and too deep to wade in many places, but the system of access markers on the bank is really good and does allow you to reach some really fishable pools.

A quiet couple of hours, again with just the otters for company. Very low water levels and bright conditions made for a quiet start, but a sizeable Grayling on a Klinkhammer Indicator at the bottom of the Bathing Pool made up for things. I fished the right bank this time and directions and info were spot on.
