Constant sunshine in a blue sky in my face all day lighting up the whole of the river with no wind. Predictably no bites until cloud cover came over from 4.00pm. Both fish caught between 5.00 and 6.00pm after a move. Worth the wait. Both fish in pristene condition with no previous hook marks in mouths ( unlike some beats) and unlikely to in future after my little size 14 barbless was easily removed.

A tough day with just two chub to show from full days effort.
However, sometimes there is more to fishing than catching fish and it was just a pleasure to be at this well kept beat for the day.
Thanks again W&U

River pretty low despite the amount of water than went through recently. There was a lot of debris about, some natural and some not. Lots of plastic strewn in and around the river. There were two spots where a few grayling were evident, but there was no sign of salmon or trout at all. It's clear there are some fine spawning areas, but not a single fish to use them.

Very warm for the time of year, river carrying a nice bit of colour.
Fishing very slow in the morning, but picked up pm, although patchy.

A brilliant sunny day until late afternoon made for difficult barbel fishing. I tried two swims and found the chub obliging in both and ready to take pellets, meat or cheese. However, I lost at least twice as many as the two I landed in the bankside vegetation and debris from the recent flood. But of barbel there was no sign, even though I stayed until dark by which time steady light rain had set in.

Fished with my son Max. A lovely day, so we started with dry flies and stayed that way all afternoon. Max lost the fish of the day early on, using a DHE. I had a jingler on and found most of the grayling in the faster water. We ended with a dozen between us plus a couple of OOS trout.
