After a hectic few days of shifts was ready for a wind down session on a river somewhere , so opted for the lovely Titley beat of the Arrow . . . . Got there about ten a nice day , bit blustery and reading eighteen degrees in my truck , tackled up my usual small streams outfit and tied on a tiny Parachute Greenwells see how things went , then bimbled down to the dirt of start of the beat . . .

Initially no responses and so changed to an Adam's still no takers in the usual haunts , so tried s nymph and first feisty fish , about eight inches slipped back in . . . Did then change back to Para Greenwells , as did see a splashy rise head if a pool , so careful casting and gad him !!!! Great stuff at last , nice ten inch fish too , quickly admired then released, likewise third fish took the Parachute dry with some gusto and last fish was just down from the weir in the faster water , also had two on and quickly off during my four hour session , fish ranged from seven to ten inches today. . . . .

A pleasant few hours on one of my favourite beats , didn't see the mink today which is a first fir here !!! Thouroughly enjoyable chill out , and four beauties to hand , tricky finding the brownies today , usually respond well to a prosoected dry but want to be today and had to really work and search out areas tight to the bank and pocket water , still great fun and back to this gem very soon . . . . . . . . Morrisons early bells tomorrow, get that dreary chore nailed , then get to another wild stream that needs a dry fly gracing its waters ha ha!!!!!!!!

Good day today despite the gusting wind. Majority of fish caught on nymphs during the morning, including a chublet by DC.
Hard work in the afternoon until and after trying various drys, a parachute Adams took a Brown trout. After that a 10” Grayling was also tempted and brought to hand.
DC witnessed what he believed to be a 12-14lb Salmon leaping out of the water on a couple of occasions.
Thanks to the Wye and Usk and owners.

No carp caught .
I think the rules regarding the fishing should be stated before an angler has booked and paid. I would have liked to have known that I could only fish with one rod before paying. Also only found out about bait restrictions after paying. I believe such a system is unnecessarily underhand. A system where ALL relevant information is given upfront before booking would be much fairer. Will not be using you again in a hurry.

Booking Office Note: The coarse fishing rules are available online in advance from the website, under the 'Rules and Regulations' on each beat page.

Disappointing day on a stretch I know well. Think the fact that the same 3 or 4 swims are fished almost daily has had an impact. To fish the lower part apart from the rope pool and another nearby requires jungle warfare.
Lost a barbel on floatfished corn then had a couple of chub.
Strange no dace about to the corn- had lots at nearby kerne bridge the evening before. Perhaps they've migrated out.

River low'ish at 500mm. I heard one big splosh which had to be a salmon, but otherwise no sightings, other than kingfishers and herons. Thanks for the improvements to the bankside path opposite the caravan park, and for new natural platform at the Oak pool.

Beat: summerfield beat ( usk )

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:3

Fished the Summerfield beat on the Usk. Water levels falling after rain a week ago. The water was coloured, but the evening saw good hatches of fly life, eagerly taken by brown trout. There were no salmon seen, nor any sea trout, so fishing concentrated on dry flies for the brown trout. A party of 3 caught eleven trout averaging 1lb, with some 1.5 lbs. Success was found by matching the hatch, gentle presentation, and a long drift. Takes often came at the end of the drift.
