Well gave the little Clewedog a bash early on this morning , as wasn't heading out with Mrs A. till later on in the day , so got there at sparrows fart , still dim when I tackled up , my usual trustee rig , still misty and muggy when I started down in the little Brook , prospecting a tiny Para Adams , first one missed , and in fact second one , savage fast hits to the dry !!!!!! Dooooh !!!!!!
Eventually tuned in , and had the third fish , nice little Clewedog brownie , about eight inches , slipped back in , second fish was in the same pool , at the head , another good rise to the Adams , spot on !!!! Nice to get to these streams early , only nature seems to be up , which is soooooooo relaxing !!
Worked my way up stream , only a quick session here , six nice fish to hand was a fun early morning , next time I'm here will do the full beat , hopefully be a bit cooler , was hot hot travelling back !!! Did have a catch up quickly , with a mate who I do some rabbit lamping with after my fishing sortie , was nice to have a cold drink to be honest , only lives locally , takes his dog walking occasionally down there , said quite often sees an otter !!!! Water quality and insect life are very good here in the little Clewedog , great to see , however does really need some TLC come winter time , and a good old trim back , all the way up the beat !!!!
Still a really fun few hours , and nice to catch some of the feisty Clewedog brownies , spot on , back here soon , and looking forward to doing the full beat , seems odd why this little gem isn't fished much at all , it's a real little jewel in this secretive valley !!!!! Lovely jubley !!!!!!!

3 nice grayling early on and then the sun came out along with all the families and dogs. That killed the fishing dead as they were either throwing sticks in the river for the dogs or swimming themselves.

We love Fownhope 5, even if it half kills us getting into the woods. Stu had 3 Barbel, with a beautiful double included. He also had 8 chub too. Simon had 8 chub of all sizes, fishing the lucky stone. This has become a tackle graveyard. I actually lost a tackle shop of feeders and hook links. I am thinking the riverbed has changed recently, maybe after the recent high waters. I have fished this swim for years now, and this is the worst it has ever been. Such is wild fishing. I broke the tip of my rod too, to make my day even better, grrrr. We will be back asap, and we will keep coming back too.
Cheers W&U for allowing us to fish this great stretch.
By the way, two people poaching in the top field, and once again using villagers rights as an excuse.
This seems to happen regularly. Bloomin stinkin hot day, but the river looked great.

Fished the eastern Cleddau beat, no fish caught or seen. Water was very low. Although nothing was caught the surroundings are beautiful and worth the trip.

Evening ticket. All the action was, as usual, just as it was getting too dark to see so a few takes missed. River at a good height at 0.33 on the Trallong gauge.

Was a tough day. A few surface takes in the morning and then all stopped by midday. Nothing thereafter. Hot. Nice beat though.
