I have fished this beat a few times in past years but have never seen the river so low. There was very little surface activity and the water fairly clear. I hooked two trout on a tungsten bead nymph and landed one of about 12 ounces which was in very good condition.

A lovely and unlucky evening for me, missing takes on upstream nymph and losing two nice fish hooked on a small parachute pattern. The evening rise was a lot more sporadic than last sunday

A beautiful beat with easy access via two heavy weight gates. Parked 200 yards round the corner as parking area seemed to be in front of the gate. Fished half way up the beat with jig hook nymphs. Access to this part of the beat is difficult. Took great care in getting down the waters edge as this part of the beat is very deep. But it was worth it as picked up two Grayling on being my best to date. I would think is was over two pounds. Took great care with both fish by keeping them in the water and both went back strongly. Have found my second best beat on the Wye.

First visit to this beat and what a beautiful one at that. Parked around the corner and not near the gate entrance. Easy walk down to the first pool but difficult to get down to the water. Decided to place rod on walkway and get down which made things easier. Knew there would be fish there and hooked in to a very nice Grayling of about a pound. Again swing my jig hook nymphs down and hit into an other monster Grayling. Did my best to get it landed quickly as it gave me a hard fight. Kept in the landing net just long enough to snap a few for the record. Swam away strongly leaving me happy as Boris. Took pictures from both sides.
