A bright day with the river still a little high but dropping and clear. We fished a variety of nymphs with nothing to show for it. When we found a few rising fish we caught two grayling both about 1.5 lbs one on a Bibio the other a Black Klinkhammer. MP & RJ.

Not the best of days for salmon fishing, totally clear sky and blazing sun - not what you expect at the end of September in Wales - but non the less we got the big rods out and had a go. No salmon seen or touched. One beautiful brown trout of about a pound and a quarter, the other 4 wouldn’t have made a pound together. Still, that’s fishin’!

Very bright. Breathless. 1 wbt early on before the sun burnt the mist away. 2 on for a while and then off. Then just got very bright and tricky. Pulled stumps at 2pm to get back to London.

3 x trout 10-13 inches, 10 x grayling 10-14 inches, Pink Shrimp, Tungsten Hare's Ear, F-Fly. First a cold mist, then a glorious sunny autumn day in what must be our loveliest valley. The fishing was initially rather slow (I started with nymphs due to the cold morning) but perked up when I switched to dry fly mid-afternoon. I met my friend the resident otter twice.

3 Trout, 10 Grayling
