Unfishable. River was up and heavily coloured

Washed Off

Strong downstream gale made casting tricky. V short hatch around midday that got a few fish rising but mostly on far side which meant by the time I got into position to cast the hatch had stopped. Caught a nice trout on a swung wet fly when the wind really got going. Thanks to WUF.

River rising quickly to red line, one fish splashed in top end of spring pool. Nice 1lb trout to Henry. Has anyone come across numerous fresh water lice on trout ?
(WUF note: yes, common in low hot water)

A fabulous salmon in peak condition. An amazing start to my season after 2 1/2 hours fishing. Unhooked and released in shallow water without netting.

Fished from 11-2 on what was a cold and windy day. The 2 rising fish that I saw were devouring olives from a hatch that lasted a maximum of 10 minutes which ,by the time I had derigged my nymph setup and tied on a small Adams in the wind and brambles, I missed. Two small trout around 8" came to a size 18 hares ear fished on the bottom. Good to see insects and rising fish again after a subterranean winter!
