Just the one Barbel, the only bite I managed from a river that had been in the fields the day before washing in goodness knows what off the land.A nice fish of 8lb 10 oz caught on straight lead with pellet on the hook.An enjoyable as ever on this beat.

Fabulous day. Caught the river fining down after a big flood, my favourite conditions. Hooked and lost what felt like a sizeable fish in the first 15 minutes to a hook pull and lost one other in the afternoon to a severed hooklink.
Landed 5 barbel, with the largest going a very pleasing 10lb 3oz. The fish were landed on either large halibut pellets or fishy flavoured boilies, with a groundbait mix consisting of various pellet types, crushed up boilies, crushed hemp and fishmeal in a large feeder. Had to work quite hard to keep the fish coming. Each capture seemed to kill the swim completely, necessitating 5 moves through the day. I'd usually expect multiple captures from a swim with heavily coloured water, but you don't always get it your own way!

the first time I came here it was low / normal conditions and I loved it ! full of features and plenty of fish. today and the last two times I've come its been in flood which turns it into one big flat piece of water.( 1.62 on the gauge which means its over the top of the boards at the bottom of the beat )sure, its still possible to fish and I did catch some from the beach type areas were you can wade out a little, but some of the best grayling spots were way too deep to get in. all fish 9 to 10" on nymphs fished on euro leader.

Washed off at Backney but it takes more than a flooded river Wye to stop us., Wye back in its banks above Hereford so quick detour to Lower Canon Bridge. 3 blanks but PW managed 2 barbel including a PB fish of 10lb 6oz. Pellet and meat were the successful baits .

Water up 4.5m so a hard day with river at or over the top of the banks. Found a reasonable slack and had bites all day.
