Very few fish evident, and very little fly life, but I managed to tempt one very small trout. We did see a few Blue-winged Olives about.

2 rods fishing as usual. There is plenty of fish holding water on this beat! The day started cold with showers but ended up as a lovely evening. A few brook duns, large olives and olive uprights were hatching sporadically and as usual for us with Usk fish they dont come to a dry unless they are actually taking the natural. So fishing was patchy and a case of keeping moving to find the hatch and rising fish. 6 hooked but only 3 brought to hand - 6 and 8 inches plus a 17 inch clonker! Two of the fish lost were at least that big.....

A super days fishing in lovely surroundings.

the day started dry but didn't end that way. Fished the fly and spinner with not a touch. Not to sure if I saw a fish turn in the neck of the pool

A cold wet and windy day for early May. Very few hatches and one 8"WBT caught on a nymph. However, we had a few takes during the day and almost landed another two. A wonderful stretch of river, gin clear, good access and really easy wading.

SW breeze, heavy rain turning to showers with sunny intervals. Bank-side access was difficult upstream of car park. Eventually found a crossing place which could be safely waded at the top of the beat above the island; this, however, was difficult on my return after the river had risen by the end of the day. It might be an idea to indicate safe crossing places for anglers in the information about the beat.
Landed 7 trout and lost 4. Best fish was 14 inches and another of 13 inches. Others were good fish around 11 inches. Very few rises, though a steady hatch of various upwings - LB Olives, pale wateries and BWOs- during the day. Used small PTNs, GRHEs and PTNGH nymphs. Fished beside the island, opposite Glan-y-cafn and down-stream of Glan-y-cafn.

Lots of fly life and good fishing to both dries and nymphs. Grumpy man in Mill doesn’t seem to understand that anglers are allowed to wade in front of his house!
