My first time fishing in the UK, and wasn’t sure what level the river was normally at. It seemed high, as there was only a foot of visibility and lots of grass submerged Caught one nice Grayling and 4 Very small fish...I think they were juvenile salmon? All caught using Czech nymphing techniques. Fished about 2 hours. Very fun!

river down about a foot from monday when I was here , but running very fast and crystal clear! all areas fishable except the top pool which i didn't risk. ( top of the bottom beat i mean) I expected to do really well today but struggled to find fish anywhere, just the odd one here and there. could be they are still a little messed up after the flood ? grayling to 12" trout to 16".

Nice autumn day out,river it was still a bit high but quite clear.Around middle day I manage to land a nice fish.

Water still high and struggled to find fishable swims, so hard work. Lost some feeders on snags, but a picturesque beat all the same

With the gauge at Belmont still showing over 2.5m of extra water, I decided against the 5 hour each way drive, and didn't even set off, let alone fish!!

No fish and despite commando style fishing conditions, this was enjoyable. The river was in perfect condition and who knows what may have been possible if half of the pools had been fishable.

Note to owner. Some tree branch cutting is desperately needed to open up the pools to Salmon angling. I am sure that in low water for trout these dense bankside trees will not be a problem, but if serious about salmon fishing in high water far too many pools and runs are inaccessible which is a shame.
