I only had a limited time on the river. I'm a warden at Biblins campsite and it was very busy that day. The barbel (about 8lbs) was caught at first light on luncheon meat. It didn't present the normal barbel fight and, when landed, appeared to have a white fungus on its back near the dorsal fin. It took ages to recover even though it had been a short fight. Apologies I forgot to photograph the fungus

Both Chub were a decent size and did fight as expected. However they also looked drab and in less than good condition. I also caught two eels.

One Chub and both eels were caught in the evening.

I have to say the amount of algae in the river was a real problem. I lost three feeders and every chuck had to be cleaned off when I reeled in. The river is very low which just revealed how covered in algae every pebble is.

Another enjoyable day at Lower Canon apart from the roadworks right at the end of the lane in Canon Bridge! Started on the float and had a couple of small chub then went on the feeder and had the rest of the chub & barbel. River still very low & clear. Various baits worked. Heavy showers earlier gave way to a bright warm afternoon. Barbel to just over 9lb chub to 4lb . Many thanks W&UF

Fished Rhosrydd, in the evening, cloud and sun, wind from the south, good hatch of sedges in the margins but no rises in nearly three hours, fished with wet fly and weighted nymph. Nothing, saw one fish pottering past me in the shallows. No takes. Looks like a good fishery to take a boat out with a pal and make a day of it, if conditions provide, they can also help open the three gates on the way there!

River low and clear as expected but it didn't stop us catching some Chub trotting corn through the deeper holes. Small but nice stretch with good access , we will be back!
