2 x trout 6 and 15 inches, Monnow Gosling. A cloudy evening after rain. I came down to spend a couple of hours watching one pool in the hope that the better trout would show before dusk. Although a few mayfly spinners were around, there seemed to be no activity from fish except for parr and baby chub in the shallow margins. The Monnow still has that thick brown stain and needs a good dose of rain to flush it out. However, trotting a dry fly just a few inches off the alder roots in the darkness under the trees produced an almost imperceptible swirl as one good fish sucked it down.

Beautiful setting, despite the bad weather. Wind and rain made casting difficult. One trout was caught with #12 Solider Palmer very close in. The fish was in great condition and was the best part of 1lb; it was carefully returned to fight another day. We hope to head back to Dulyn soon.

Managed a couple of chub of average size in low water conditions and what appeared to be an algae bloom making the water a bit cloudy and possibly put the barbel off feeding. Packed up mid afternoon when about 15 canoes decided to
enjoy the lovely weather right where i was fishing but it was not unexpected. As always its still a nice day out on the Wye.

First time here, fished 1.30-5.30pm. Not easy with little rising, a difficult wind and the water low and still, but a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. We managed four between us, two on nymphs and two on dries, the better of which were one at 1.25lb and the lovely 16.5" fish pictured - we felt this was a reasonable result for the conditions! All returned.

Only arrived at 6.30pm. Had 4 Barbel on pellet feeder. Also caught a small roach on a 14mm pellet!!

Great beat and a good evenings fishing.

A little tricky to navigate through the farm with minimal instruction.

Very tough going, warm and sunny with the river very low and not much flow, could hold bottom with 20gram leads! Water was coloured which we were told was a form of alge which was affecting the fish feeding and may explain the lack of barbel. Nice stretch of water with good access to the swims, will be back later in the year.

Well after a spur of the moment ticket for the day and with the rain cannot grumble, weather got better and so did the fishing as me and the boy gave it the last hour, 4 in the net with that last hour! Fair play.
