After a pleasant morning on the Edw Hergest beat we made our way to the bridge at the Cregrina beat. Heading downstream to the start of the beat was a challenge and after some mountaineering managed to get down to the river.
As we gathered breath there was a splashy rise in the adjacent run. A small green klink was hastily attached and de-barbed, which was duly taken by a feisty little wbt of around 7 inches.
Fishing the runs back towards the bridge produced a further 2 wbts around the same size, both coming from the same run.
The river above the bridge changes to a more steady slow pace and offers little to the dry fly fisherman, so we did the decent thing and packed the rods away and headed for the pub.
All fish admired and returned to grow bigger.

3 Barbel, one from the car park and two in the wood towards the top end. Best fish of the week at 9lb 2oz in another freshly cut swim. We had a great week overall in tough river conditions. Will definitely be back as it's a beautiful beat and Peter is an excellent host who has done a cracking job getting the venue ready.
Back in December for the Pike season!

Strange day , had to fish hard all day though all the swims for nothing only to go back to the first swim we blanked in in the morning and there they where!! Crazy last two and a half hours as they feed like mad on feeder fished baits, a grueller turned in to an amazing finish, just love the wye.

Poor weather to start, with wind direction continuously changing. 3 stunning browns landed (Diawl bach) tried fishing deep for the char but no takes. If you attempt to fish I recommend 25k map, compass and mountain weather gear, wild & remote, conditions change in minutes.

A little colour in the river. Weather overcast with some light showers. No hatches seen and only a couple of rising fish seen all day. The grayling came up to a Klinkhammer and the small trout was caught on nymph. All fish returned. A lovely place to spend the day.

Very quiet with very few rises, fish very spooky. Two trout on nymphs in faster water. Otter(s) very busy and having far more success than me!
