Fabulous day on the Wye. Hovering around 5degrees with lots of cloud cover.
Managed a Grayling of about 1lb to the net in the morning aswell as a WBT of about 1/2lb in the morning. Both taken on a PTN under a strike indicator, both within about 10 minutes of each other.
Then later in the afternoon managed another Grayling of about 1lb on a olive CDC emerger.
Fantastic day.

Well my last free day of the week well spent. Again it was freezing cold which certainly doesn’t help with your technique when you can’t feel your fingers haha! Even still it has seemed harder to locate the grayling Czech style the last few days, maybe a french style would suit better with the clear/shallow water.
Caught a beautiful fish on a hand tied disco shrimp though which was more than enough for me.

River looking good but I found it hard to locate fish; 2 grayling 6-9", 1 OOS trout 12" on pink headed nymphs.

Cold,damp and overcast. Tried czech,french,duo and dry all to no avail. Must be doing something wrong!
Nevertheless good to be out on the river again.

Trotting this afternoon. Blank for grayling - couldn't find them - 1 x 15 inch out of season trout.

Arrived at 09:30 just as the sun was breaking through following a cold start. Disaster struck as I broke the tip of my new 10ft float rod I had bought specially for this beat while tackling up, fortunately had my 12ft rod with me. Trotted maggot taking 5 good grayling between 10 and 14 inches. Fish appeared to be spread out and not shoaled up. As I contemplated packing up at 16:00 a barn owl fly directly over head.

Lovely day but nothing moving and no hatch. Tried every method known to man but nothing, must be losing my touch! Still,lovely to be out on such beautiful river.
