Lovely sunny afternoon. Reasonable hatch of fly but little rising. One 3/4 lb brown on the dry fly and large chub on the nymph. Beautiful peaceful stretch of the wye.

Evening session, fishing from 6-8pm. Expecting lots of fly life and I wasn’t disappointed, with plenty about, but absolutely no fish rising at all. Persevered with the dry and pulled one Grayling around 10inches from a run. Nice to be out anyway.

Numerous fry and 5 WBT to 6in. Lower section (bottom half of the lower beat) is very overhung by new growth in the trees. The upper half of the lower beat is far more fishable.

First time on this stunning beat, a really beautiful place to be especially if the sun is shining as it was today.
Fishing was difficult with all sorts of water to test your abilities and I got the impression that the trout are few and far between but bigger than average and very wary...but that may have just been today.
There was all kinds of insect life but nothing in any great quantity, just one or two of various types, I had a pull on a nymph and a good take on a dry but missed them both and that was all the action I could manage today. I get the feeling it would have been a different river if I’d fished till dusk, maybe next time.

Fished from 1100 - 1500 plenty of trout seen scuttling about but with only a few rises. Lots of people on the path by the stream with kids and dogs paddling. I'd be keen to come back midweek when it is quieter to make the most of this stream.

Nothing seen or caught. As others have mentioned this is a very shallow stream. Picturesque though.

Fished from 1800 until last light (about 2145). Cracking little steam. Hooked 3 and brought 2 to hand on 16 Greenwells Glory, 16 Coch y Bonddu and 20 Midge (the loss). Rises were intermittent but enthusiastic, fish tolerated multiple presentations before striking, persistence was key!

River very low so didn't hold out much hope. I connected with something at the top of rock pool, didn't feel very big and it slipped the hook as it got near. It definitely wasn't a brown trout as I saw how silver it was and the tail shape was wrong. I'm guessing it was either a small grilse or a sea trout? It looked to be around the 3lb mark from what I saw.
Saw one decent splash at the neck of rectory pool. (WUF Note possibly an Allis shad)
