Apologies for this return being late, I thought it was done.

I only had time to fish upstream of the bridge and this was a very cold day. It took a while to find any grayling, my first 4 fish were OOS trout. Eventually I tried fishing light weight nymphs upstream and managed 6 grayling before the cold got to me and I had to warm up in the car. A great location.

Tough day with the cold weather and the pace of the water. Spent most of the day on the float and picked off a few (lost more than I care to remember), and moved across to the feeder for the afternoon/evening. Brief feeding spell around 5pm meant we had a few bites in quick succession.

Best Chub 3lb 9oz, and another similar. Rest around a pound or so. One trout of maybe 3lb (fantastic looking fish) but rest about a pound.

Very cold and rainy with the river low and crystal clear. Managed to take a beautiful grayling on the pink shrimp, but my technique was pretty poor all day to be honest. Better anglers than me would have had a cracking day I think, fish shoaled up and more difficult to find, perhaps spooky with the clear water too.

Despite the cold and occasional flurries of snow and sleet, the Lyepole grayling were very obliging today. The fish seemed to be spread out and covering the water paid dividends. Nothing huge today with the biggest around the pound mark.
Most were caught on nymph and heavy bug but a hatch of what looked like LDOs started a small rise at about midday and a few came to a dry. Another surprise was a large salmon parr, around 7".
A great day in what is always a beautiful valley, whatever the time of year. The hot soup at lunchtime was a lifesaver!

First time out on a recc'ie here at Llandewi and a lovely beat it is I thought, quite a novelty for a wild stream beat actually I think, lots and lots of space to swing the rod and river of good size too ! Still the barbed wire fencing to do the dance with of course but once over you can walk lots of the bank/wade easily.
River had quite a bit of 'skinny' water and perhaps a good handful of very nice looking pools (some with nice cover & LWD) one could spend fair time at but add to that a couple of very long runs (of quite some depth it looks !) that looked superb for trotting a stick float ! Was just on the fly today but will be packing the centrepin next time for sure . !
Llandewi gauge height approximately 0.25m and pushing through perfect for the fly or stick float at this height it seemed to me . A nasty Easterly blowing today though.
Wading was generally easy and I covered the water today from the road bridge up to the layby parking not having enough daylight to work up to the top. Good parking there at layby actually as well but possibly easy to miss if coming from Crossgates way as the layby sign is only properly visible if coming from Newtown direction.
Only had the one grayling today but didn't really get enough time to put any serious effort in but it was a nice and very solid fish that refused to throw the towel in quickly ! Got in a slight pickle trying to unhook in the net in the water so unhooked quickly at Rivers edge and a chance for a very quick snap taken. Swam off nice and strong after giving it time so very happy indeed with all of that.
Very pleased overall and really am looking forward to getting back in the river here !
BTW , I stopped overnight in the van at Fforest fields camp/caravan site a ways up the road. Fantastic site with hotel quality facilities and all the hot water you wanted !. Such decadence....
