Lost a decent grayling, caught 3 small and one medium sized brown trout. Missed about 4 big trout on different flies. Mostly dry flies. Big splashes, no takes. Better luck next time!

Difficult conditions, lots of snags, weed pushing through and Kayakers. Enjoyable day though - lost 2 good sized Barbel in the weed.

I arrived mid-afternoon and decided to fish the lower part of the beat I noticed that another angler had left his kit on the gravel bank opposite, just downstream. He returned a couple of hours later and proceeded to unload more tackle from his car. I then had a similar experience to another angler last week, as he waded out into the middle of the river, set up his beachcaster rod rest and proceeded to fish in the faster water down my side of the stream. To cap it all he then turned his radio on! I moved to another swim further upstream. The best chub was about 31/2 lbs and the barbel, on the last cast of the evening, around 61/2lbs, all on pellet, except for an eel which took meat bait.

Bit of a struggle, Peter the fishery manager was very helpful. Caught all fish on meat on a bright day.

River conditions improving. Took fish all through the day. Fish to Barbel 7.5lb Chub 4lb.

3 nice browns around 1 lb each, taken from around the rocks at Stone Catch. Really easy wading at Lady Alexanders Catch and this was the most productive area fished. Most fish were taken on size 20 pheasant tail nymph. At the head of this pool fish were rising to dries - emerger mainly.
