3 rd time on this beat,,hoping 3 rd time lucky, but was not to be. 3 small fish,..French leader nymphs.
Cormorant fishing the pools on the upper beat behind White House ,also mink buy stone bridge.
Only seen 2 rise only.
Some lovely pools, runs and glides on this beat but after given up around 1.45 pm decided to walk back aprox 1 mile trying to spot fish from behind trees and high banks,as water was very clear.,,,and pretty much seen nothing .
Clearly spinning is active on this beat due to seeing lots of heavy mono line hanging from trees.
Think I need to find a beat with more fish.

River temperature increased from a week ago by 3 degrees to 16 degrees c. Evening rise before on the Saturday night saw prolific sedge hatch with trout and grayling feeding heavily. Morning Fishing very slow possibly due to fish feeding heavily the night before and increase in water temperature. Fish caught were not in the fast glides but dropping back into the runs. Heavy bugs the order of the day on French leader and method. Dry fly switched on late afternoon as previous day with trout rising first followed by grayling an hour later. Dry fly was method required late afternoon - out fished French leader 2:1. Flies required for dry were large CDC olive patterns bigger the better seemed to work. Fish moving into the heads of the pools as the day progressed. Mixed bag of trout and grayling - 2 grayling over 18” with all trout in the half to three quarter pound range. No lumpers today.
Cheers Shaun for another fantastic day on Craig Lyn

A lovely evening on the river made better by a lovely barbel of 9lb 8ozs. Two modest chub followed with the obligatory couple of eels. All fish fell to meat and were caught in the wooded section of the beat

Water level at 410mm and no salmon seen. Just enough colour in the deeper runs to keep hope alive, but gave up by 4 p.m. Chatted with Barri the owner, who was there cutting back the banks. Good that the pub is back in business. 3 anglers.

Feeder and float fishing brought a steady day of fish. Some chub in the 3 to 4 pound range and some barbel to 7 to 8.
This is the second time I have booked this fishery and both times there was a free day in a sea of taken slots and both times I had tree cutting on the opposite bank. Does this mean that all other anglers are some how informed and do not book this day? Very pleasant talk with the other angler on the beat.

10 Barbel, 13 Chub
