This is an attractive, varied stretch with the bedrock cascades at Millbrook the highlight but on a bright day in a muted spring for angling it was going to be hard work. I was glad I came back in the still, warm evening when there was slightly more response and wished I had discovered the top stretch between the bridges rather earlier, but for the second year this was 'another quiet day on the river'. Getting through the thickets to access the bottom stretches will deter some anglers.

Water 10 ins on bridge guage. Gin clear. We fly fished most pools down to bridge pool. Did see a fish about 5 lb swimming by as we ate lunch at the hut. This is a very fishy looking beat. No sign of any Salmon.

An attractive wild stream beat. A very bright day with full sun- too bright.

Another beautiful day and salmon were seen on the Mill Stream and Rectory Pool but sadly nothing hooked!

Fished from 5am to 12 river clear. Fished the cockpit spinning early on shortly after I fished it through another angler had a 37lb hen fish. Stopped at 12 as it got too bright and much too hot for me and the fish

41" (26lb) fresh salmon on FC - safely returned.
