Only fished for a few hours, tried trotting without any joy. The river was very low and the weather was very hot and sunny.

Well had a rare day off with Mrs A. Nice not to be at work , up at five , pooch out for a while , then down to the Pinsley Brook , weather was pleasant for six in the morning , overcast , sun just poking through , so fished only from six till eight ish !!!!

Did initially try a small rusty klinkhammer on the water , had one brave splashy rise to it but didn't contact . . . . Mmmmm , bit early me thinks , so changed for a tiny PTN , and had a beautifully marked six inch brownie , still feels good on a six foot two weight , gereat fun !!!!!

The second fish , again caught on the PTN on a private stretch , a few indications that later on would have been good , as some insect activity showing even this early in the morning . . . .

A breeze started to pick up just as I called it a day , and sun shoepwing through , was lovely to be out and about at this miniature haven , two little small brownies caught and released , good fun , and a nice start to the day . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Saw a red kite, hooray. Saw a mink, boo. Saw a heron, hooray. Saw a signal crayfish, boo. Saw some deer, hooray. Fish-wise it was absolutely dire, just one small grayling to hand, 5-10 hooked but came off. River seemed far more devoid of fish than usual. Flow was up and coloured, combine with glaring sunshine and very blustery conditions...not easy. Nice walkabout all in all.

Halibut pellets on hair, barbel ground bait. We found that the ground bait attracted the chub and we caught the barbel at times when we didn’t use the ground bait for a while

First time on this beat to find the river running low but with a touch of colour on a beautiful early summers day.
Plenty of fish caught throughout the day although largest Barbel only weighed in at 6lb 11oz and Chub 3lb 10oz.
Great days fishing we will be back thanks WAU.

10 Barbel, 25 Chub
