I found this beat quite difficult, all the fish came in the morning and I think that I should have rather focused on the early morning and then called it a day. There was a nasty cold wind blowing downstream the entire day and that made the fishing difficult. It may have put the fish down or put off the hatches. I did get back on the river late in the evening (it was the longest day of the year), and there was a considerable mixed hatch of upwings and caddis flies but not a fish moved. Never saw a rise.. So a tough day at the office, but I enjoyed it, as I have enjoyed all the beats I have fished and I am very thankful that the Wye Usk foundation makes that possible.. Thank you

Evening ticket; and lovely to be out on the longest day of the year in a gloriously sunny evening. I am still something of a novice with larger rivers and I don't feel I did this justice as there was a pretty promising evening rise. Spent the entire time fishing small dries and hooked 3 but couldn't seem to make anything stick!

Always a good venue. Tried a few swims to the left and right of the tree line. Barbel always there in the faster flow.

Extremely sunny conditions but Czech Nymph technique produced a fantastic days sport in the fast oxygenated water.
River was low and evidence that it was dropping further.

A hot evening - with pollen levels exacerbated by the newly cut hay not particularly comfortable. The bullocks were in the leat again causing turbidity downstream of where that enters the river but also the river was turbid with algae until the sun went in.

6 fish to hand - 5 wbt best 12" - and one grayling. With the barn owl for company a nice evenings diversion....

Not a cloud in the sky all day and very warm it was no surprise that most fish came out in the evening. The barbel were of a good average size, best 9lb 7oz and were caught above and below the metal steps. Fish came to feeder tactics and a variety of baits.
