A long days fishing started very well with two barbel being caught within half an hour of being at the venue. Weed coming down a dropping river hampered us for most of the day. Various swims were visited but the best sport was at the start of the beat. Most fish were caught by one angler with feeder and large pellet. Lovely place, good access for everyone.

River at medium level and weather good, part cloud part sun 18 deg. No fish showing at any time of the day.
No fish caught on the fly Spinning is almost impossible anywhere on this beat due to large amount of weed.

Very pleasant day in the Honddu valley, river very clear but the recent rain has helped clear it a little. Olives hatching but not many rises, but I tempted trout from many of the faster or streamier runs, eventually landing 9 to 11" on small paras and dries. Kingfishers, water birds, and buzzards flying around, but also some plastic bags etc and tin drinks cans in and around the water - mainly I guess from the campsites next to the river. Removed what I could.

Good conditions generally. River slightly coloured after recent rain. No sign of fish rising for most of the day.
An absolutely stunning location and one to which we shall undoubtedly return. Caught x2 Salmon Parr and a Brown Trout on a Gold Head Hare's Ear Nymph, and a Grayling on a Copper John.
Thoroughly enjoyable day.

I focussed on the top half of the beat again today. Some nice trout around 10 inches from fast water on a soft hackle dry using my 7'6" 3 weight. Lots of fish rising on the flats and two fish took a size 18 F fly, (they were super-selective). In the evening the Grayling came on in the top pool and I managed five good fish on the soft hackle dry again around 14 inches. I couldn't do anything on the nymph, either on the duo or a French leader. It was warm and bright and whatever the method that works on the day it is a pleasure to be out in such wonderful surroundings.

Another great day at Llyn Buguilyn, sunny and almost windless not ideal but lots of activity on top. All taken on small black dries. Left bank in first session then right bank upto the christmas tree. Most fish in morning , most of afternoon lake was like a millpond.

Fished at wyecliffe, Hay . Bought tickets direct from owner who was very helpful and gave us a map showing best barbel swims. I had a 7lb03oz and a 6lb 02oz whilst setting up my sons rod. He then caught his first barbel of 8lb03oz. We packed up and went home happy after just 4 hours fishing

The river is still low obviously, and very little movement seen for most of the bright evening. A small hatch brought some fish to the surface later in the evening by which point it was time to go home. 1 small brownine caught on a black klinkhammer. A very nice spot to spend time, looking forward fishing it under better conditions in the future.
