The weather was a complete contrast to the day before with warm sunshine & T shirts the order of the day in mid October! Plenty of Salmon showing as the season ends but of more interest to us feeding barbel with 4 fish taken to 7lb. Pellet feeder most productive.

Only 2 of us fished and we packed up early following torrential downpour. Had intended roving but ended up fishing static at the top of the stretch. Stu landed on a shoal of smallish barbel and had 6 with best at 7lb. I didn't drop on a shoal and failed to draw any thing up. Nice bit of river and clearly no shortage of fish but to be honest the neglected state of the banks and swims and the frankly unsafe timber walkway made us question the justification for a £23 day ticket compared to other WUF stretches I have fished.

16 x grayling, all shotts of 8-12 inches, 6 x out of season trout 10-14 inches, dry Sturdy's Fancy and Grayling Steel Blue plus a few on flame tail wets - Red Tag etc. It took a while to locate the grayling after recent floods. A dark, gloomy day with quite a bit of rain although river stayed at 1ft 6 inches while I was there.

Started soon after 9 to get in before the newly forecast rain!. Overcast, cool and damp so explored some of the deeper water with golden beaded hares ear and pheasant tail nymphs. Strangely only the OOS trout were interested x3 8-11inches - quickly returned. Heavy rain started soon after 11 and fished on for an hour but then retreated.
