Beat:The Creel
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:2
First time on the Creel and was quite impressed with it, there's a good variety of water. Tried the faster water down the side of the island but this produced only chub. All the barbel came from the steadier water above the island. Most of the fish came in the evening but there were a couple of short feeding spells in the heat of the day, each producing 2 or 3 barbel in quick succession. Fish were caught fishing to far bank cover with feeder and a variety of baits.

Beat:Court of Noke
No. of Anglers:1
Bowled up at The Court of Noke beat at elevenish , only had three hours tops as had a pressing garden project to crack on with on a few days off !!!!!
Weather was intermittent sun , a steady annoying downstream breeze , and occasional cloud , there were a few smaller fish rising at the tails of pools in the bottom end of the beat so opted for my usual eighteen parachute Adams , seemed to be a good choice , had a little cracker , admired and released back into the clear low water of the Arrow . . . . . Which incidentally is running a tad low , but very very clear at the mo !!!!!
I did have several other rises to the Adams , but seemed like they were coming short of it , as didn't have a contact on four occasions ! I swapped to a rusty klinkhammer see if that resulted in hooks ups , and was rewarded with another , about eight inches , and lovely colours as always with these Arrow brownies .
Did see an otter half way up the beat , and left the following pools alone , as initially it was making quite a disturbance , as I sat in the bank side vegetation rolling a tab !!
I had the last fish just short of the bridge pool , great condition , about ten inches . The walk down to the water in places here is now a struggle , as nettles and balsam are now five to six feet in places , hard go, none the less great to see an otter , a quick session on this cracking little beat , and fun to be out as always on the river . . . . . . . A few relaxing hours , three little gems caught , happy days !!!!

River low, conditions were warm and sunny, found casting to shaded spots under overhanging trees worked well, open ended feeder and 12mm pellets worked well, fish were immaculate condition

Area:Irfon & Ithon
Beat:Colonel's Water
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
I only fished the late afternoon/evening, the water was very low and much of the river looked very unpromising.
Took a grayling in the first run which buoyed hopes and focusing on the moving water with a dry and tiny Mayfly Brassie I was able to do quite well under the circumstances. Tricky casts under the trees to reach the moving water made for interesting fishing and I think that I enjoyed this the most so far because each fish was well earned. I can see the potential of the beat with a bit more water in it. I also suspect that a number of fish may have dropped back downstream due to the low water.
Nothing much hatching, but the brown trout all readily took the dry and the grayling all came to the nymph. The grayling seemed to fight harder than the ones I took on the Wye, despite the disadvantage of not having much current to assist them.. Lovely afternoon's fishing. Again thank you for making this possible..
