This was my first time on the beautiful Bideford Brook and I had four hours of fascinating fishing. The water was fairly clear and, I would judge at normal levels. There were a few Mayfly about but not very much surface activity.
A black Klinkhammer brought two small brownies but a change to an Adams Parachute yielded four in fairly quick succession. All six between 5-9 inches. All returned.
If you enter the river down the bank by the stile (ill half way up the beat watch out for the well camouflaged barbed wire in the bank that could trip you or rip your waders.

River clarity about 18inches and quite brown, a mixture of fly and spin due to the conditions. We saw only 2 salmon all day and both of those were in the Vanstone pool and nothing else moved in any of the other pools upstream.
2 Shad caught.

Challenging during the day - hot and bright. A couple of 6 inchers caught in the riffles. I had high hopes for the evening, following the previous evening at Fenni Fach but by 10 pm there was a curious lack of a rise and the hatch was thin compared to 24 hours previously. One 9 incher caught. A nice, but short, beat.
