Conditions not as good as forecast. Wind dropped late morning and sun came out. Hard work. Fish caught all over, most ~12", one decent @17". had a few fall off as well. Didn't stay for the evening - no stamina.

Less than ideal conditions, extremely blustery and the glare was awful. Most trout 5-7", one corker chased the nymph out a riffle, roughly 9". Another 10 fish hooked but all came off, barbless hook was particularly slippy today. Hares ear nymph under a dry used, almost all fish from the heads of the pools. Not a touch in the first 2 hours, in fact nearly all fish from the upper half of the beat. No takers for the dry, and only 2 rises seen all day. First visit to this beat and it did not disappoint, didn't see a soul all day, beautiful landscape and a very decently sized stretch of water, didn't quite realise how far upstream I had fished and was absolutely knackered when I got back to the car. One thing I would say is it isn't clear the best way to return to the start of the beat, no obvious paths or styles in fields and overgrown banks make it impossible to walk alongside the river the entire way, leading to an obligatory cross-country stomp inland.

Access to river difficult due to high bank and cattle fence also surprised to see so much rubbish in the river (old tyres and farming plastic bags). Very little action during the day but I managed to catch 3 very small trout in the evening. I think £25 is overpriced for this sort of fishing.

Quite a windy day. Less surface feeding fish today than on my visit two weeks ago. Some mayfly still about.

I’m a novice and was a bit bemused by the fact that there was loads of fly life but at times no fish rising at all. And then suddenly at 8:00 pm for half an hour there were fish everywhere. I caught one about 9’’ and missed two on and ‘indicator caddis’ though I do wonder if I could have caught them on anything given the way they were rising. Fished till after 9:00, great evening.

Arrived to find a coloured river. Over 20 salmon sighted (judging size) but none caught. As ever though a very enjoyable day on the river.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day on this beautiful stretch of the Wye. I had wanted to try to catch a salmon on the fly from the Wye whilst I was still fit enough, as I caught my first, a fresh run 29lber, from the Wye some 55 years ago. Unfortunately I chose a day when the water levels were very low as a result of a long period of dry weather.
I will be back to try again.

Quiet during the afternoon, livened up a bit in the evening. Weather fine, river rather dirty, fine crop of nettles. I (MJB Sutton Coldfield) had one 12" trout on a size 12 mayfly, Paul Crisford (PC Kenilworth) had a smaller one on a gold head buzzer. A very enjoyable day.
I'll be hurt if you amend my grammar, otherwise feel free.
Thanks, best wishes,
Mike
