Fished from 7.30 for 2 hours or so. Packed with Mayflies of all descriptions, only saw a few rises though. Snatched the only 2 takes I had, which serves me right. River was still up about 30-50 mm from the rains Friday, and a little coloured too which surprised me.

Warm day which meant I had to go deep to entice the fish. 5 good sized fish to the net most on mallard and claret using a intermediate line.

Beautiful beat, plenty to go at, great hatch of mayfly around midday and sedge all morning but didn’t see any fish rising anywhere between the two of us. One freak 4 incher.

Fished 3 till 7. Plenty of fish rising at bottom of beat from lower bridge upwards, all taken on French Partridge. 6-12 inches but mostly small. Very few fish rising at top of beat in spite of good spinner fall.
