River low and clear, weather partially sunny, no wind. A few trout showing to a small number of olives hatching through the morning and early afternoon. Caught two good trout on nymphs both in the shallows on the inner part of a bend.

Lovely beat with lots of nice looking water but didn't catch or see a rising fish all day. Only saw a brief flurry of upwings around lunch time but these went un-disturbed by the fish. Enjoyed the day and the spring sunshine but will probably keep my powder dry on returning until the weather warms up and hatches become more consistent. Good to be back on the Usk!

The river was quite low. I was using nymphs and dry fly and did not have a bite - I was fishing around mid-day as it is the beginning of the season. I did not see any fish rising.

First time on this beat. Shown the water by the affable resident ghillie Mick which was much appreciated. Tried the fly and spinner through the day but without any luck. Beautiful spot, great water. Must return soon!

Great to be back on this mixed water beat. Fished through the usual spots with the fly and tried the spinner on the upper section with no joy. Two heavy trout put a slight bend in the two-hander and a good sized silver fish top and tailed below the croy. One real positive note; the winter floods have washed away all the snags and rubbish on the bottom section, under the power lines, so its possible to wade down the middle gravel ridge from the island and get out onto the left bank without having to plough 100 metres back up river!

First time at Usk Reservoir. Lovely day out. Cool and overcast in the morning. 6 rainbow caught all on Mepps and Bluefox spinners. 1 was too small. Most were around 40 cm long. Good fight in most of them. Sun came out at 2 pm after which the fishing died out. We had a lovely show of Red Kites flying around all day. Will definitely be back.

Great place to be fishing even though not many about. Caught grayling 8" first one ever. Enjoyed it, lots of places to fish.
