After a period of heavy overnight rain, a brief rest and the heavens opened again, remaining open through most of the day. River was up by 2inches, with a tinge of colour. My experience of fishing dry flies in the rain, has never be good........until today ! There was no shortage of fish rising and one rod took 4 fish to 1.75lbs in the first half hour. This activity continued through the day, and we accounted for several fish of 1.5lbs to 1.75lbs, six fish of 2lbs and another fine fish of 3lbs, with copper flanks The remainder between 0.5lb and 0.75lbs, making the days tally up to 29 trout. In my book fishing for trout with dry flies, doesn't come much better than this. Thank you to the WUF.

River low, overcast and showery. Managed one on a Bactis nymph, and two later on with an Adams when there was an occasional rise. c7 -9" bracket. Missed one or two.....
Lovely beat but in dire need of some pruning/coppicing. I was there last c2-3 years ago and I recall it being much more accessible. Had to walk past some inviting pools that were unfishable.

Low conditions. Overcast and showery.
Found it hard going with either very shallow or deep still pools. Found myself getting through the beat very quickly.
Could have done with a couple of inches on. Managed one 7 incher on a Bactis Nymph.
Few Mayfly about but nothing rising while I was there.

My first visit to this lovely beat on a grey and rather wet morning. I spent much of my time walking to the beginning of the beat and clambering up and down banks! Just above the bottom weir I caught a 9" Brownie on a tungsten PTN. The bottom half of the beat is fairly overgrown and might be easier to fish in chest waders? Next time I shall cross the bridge and try the top half of the beat from the opposite bank which looks more approachable.

My first visit to this beat and probably my last as it is so difficult to wade what with low trees, deep pools and high banks not to mention the overgrown banks. I had very little time on the water but fished the first narrow section from the bank and took a 6" Brownie on a size 14 Hackled Brown Midge.

An outstanding days fishing! Having struggled on other beats the previous couple of days, the fish were rising to my dry (parachute adams) all day. Lost count of how many fish were landed, two of which were 3lb plus, and lost several more. Penpont never fails!
