With temperatures around 30℃ forecast an early start ensured , fish came from the off until about 1030am..
By 11am it was more like the serengeti, and it was time for me to escape the heat..a very enjoyable morning session, best barbell just over 9lb.

Fished 4am till 11, then too hot, fish for most part covered in lice and quite slimey, perhaps late spawning?

We were prepared for a hot and 'sticky' day. And it was. By the end of the afternoon we were exhausted - but this was more than compensated for by the number of fish we caught. We fished up and downstream, through the deeper pools and the shallower faster runs, and managed to take fish throughout the beat. All fish were taken with small nymph patterns - there were very few fish rising and nothing could be tempted with dry flies. Very small PTNs proved most successful, but we also secured fish using Greenwells Spiders, Snipe and Purple, and tiny wet-pattern winged March Browns. The fish looked in great, clean condition and were all returned - including numerous good-sized Grayling. An unusually productive day - we don't get many of these !!

A very hot day best spent in an air condition pub. Beautiful strech of river well maintained with parking right on the bank. Could not find any feeding barbel, three chub caught on pellet in the faster water , also had three eels. Met two salmon anglers who we had a good chat with one of who caught a salmon that morning. We stayed at tressick campsite. Will be back when things cool down a bit????

No country for old men ???? Including boiling temperatures, low water and geography this was very difficult fishing 10 - 16:00. Little hatching. Trout came to BWO and emerging olive. Biggest 10". I did manage to use my 9' /4. Simple rig of 7' braided leader/5' tippet.

4 Trout, 1 Grayling, 3 Chub
