Second day on this beat, tried the hut peg to start with, after an hour with no enquiries, moved round into the wood. Fished the lucky stone in the hope of avoiding the chub, but a repeat of the previous days sport followed.
The problem with this peg being the large rocks on the riverbed, when a barbel was hooked the hook link was invariably cut, seven barbel hooked three landed. The Wye tackle fairy took six of my feeders!
The chub were very prolific, at 7.30pm after 36 chub decided a pint was more appealing than another chub. Thanks WUF 2 great days sport.

I fished this lovely pool but caught nothing. After about 2 hrs I felt like a Kentucky fried chicken. No cloud, hot Sun, but the plus side was that I saw 3 Salmon rising on the far bank outside of my casting range. No excuses, if fish are in the pool they can be caught. (But not by me on this occasion )
To whom it may concern - rain please.

Being regretfully time poor for fishing at his time of year I grabbed the opportunity today of a few hours on the water. Not an ideal day to be fishing , hot ( at last ) low water ( a pity ) and a late start 11.30 did not promise much. Hard going ,although fish were feeding on the surface they were very spooky and selective . Summer growth on the banks is at the max and getting a fly to the shady spots is a challenge. All the fish I saw were feeding in very shallow water at the heads of the pools and I had no success prospecting the bottom with nymphs. 1 x 12 ½ " trout to a size 18 para Adams.....finished at 3.30pm.

No rush to the river today, 26 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. We did a bit of peregrine falcon spotting at Yat Rock and were fortunate to time it just right to see three of them in the air at the same time for quite a while. Pub lunch followed at the Saracens at Symonds Yat East to fuel us for the fishing.

We arrived at the river and started at 4pm til 10pm. Using 10mm pellets straight to a bomb with loose fed pellets. The odd ball of groundbait thrown in if we felt it needed it. No feeders.

Fishing close in so all bites were rod wrenchers as we got them feeding well. 22 nice barbel in the 6lb to 8.5lb range with just one chub to spoil the party.

Birds down the river today, little egret, swallows, swifts, sand martins, house martins, tawny owl to name a few.

Heaven!
