Fished all day Saturday and Sunday. Excellent weekend with hectic action at times! River was fairly low but still had a decent amount of water coming through which was cold, hence all fish fought brilliantly and recovered quickly.
Mainly fished the top part of beat casting out into far flow and under bushes using groundbait feeder with pellets and boillies. Most of barbel were around 6-7lb with the odd few weighing 8lb.
Also caught from lower beat in between the trees. Four decent perch were landed with one going 1lb 9oz - lovely fish. 2 dace also graced the bank.
Spotted some Cormorants and a Mink? Top weekend.

What an amazing place to fish. I had a grayling close to 3lb, a personal best, klink and dink. This is a beautiful stretch of river with a very good head of fish. I also had a lovely brown trout of about 2lb on a tiny dry grey klinkhammer size 18. I fished as a guest of Shaun Watkins, who was kind enough to let me fish this superb stretch, which has a lovely caravan park within 5 minutes of the river.

I was expecting more for a 20£ beat. The access from bank is very bad in the marked areas. However, it is too deep to cross wading. In summary, the beat has one nice spot, the weir at the beginning and that's it.

Arrived at top of beat access field. Farmer stated that he was going to lime the field. I decided to fish downstream and come out below. This was a mistake as I had no studs on my wading boots and the bedrock was slippy. It did not take long for me to take a ducking. Still it was a warm sunny day and I soon dried out.
Very wild wonderful stream but could not progress satisfactory either in stream because of the slippery bedrock while the adjoining terrain was difficult. Nevertheless a wonderful place to be if only I had studs and a full mountain biker's outfit of elbow, knee pads and crash helmet.
After forcing my way onto the road downstream through ditches and clumps of grass, thorns and barbwire I relocated downstream to a more civilised but beautiful stretch of steady gravelly water with the occasional bedrock. This had rising fish and I managed a couple of trout and a grayling of around 13 inches to dry fly before calling it a day. For a dead dog day of August this was a very satisfactory outing. I would not recommend to anyone fishing here but of course I shall be back.

Another great day on the river. Plenty of canoes, however well behaved. The bright sunlight meant they fed late in the day. Largest fish was 8lbs 8oz.

Water level at a good height and clear. Not many fish rising as it was a hot, sunny day. Most fish taken on nymphs and a few on caddis dries later on. Best trout 14" best grayling a lovely hard fighting 19".

Arrived at the river to find it very low and clear so initial hopes were not high. However, within 20 minutes of setting up on the left bank just down from the bridge I was in to a barbel. 9 more followed during the day reasonably evenly spaced with 4 chub mixed in. An absolutely fantastic days fishing; my first coarse fishing foray on the Wye and one I will not forget in a hurry. The beat is very quiet and attractive to look at with easy access on both banks. A few canoes came through during both the morning and the afternoon but this did not seem to negatively impact on the fishing. I stuck with 8mm pellets and feeder all day and concentrated on getting the fish feeding in one swim Be careful of the snags which seemed plentiful. Left the beat at 7pm when the fish were still biting hard but had to get home.

Good day. Fished free lined bread. All barbel around 7lbs, chub around 4lbs. Bites in the morning were typically rod off the rest, afternoon from 3ish very very shy. At first I thought it was fry, then struck into one and it was a good chub.
