Very low levels with most fish at the bottom of the bigger pools, still a really enjoyable half day with fish taking pink beaded nymphs. Lovely quiet beat with easy wading.

Low, clear and a horrible downstream wind made for a challenging day.

4 Barbel, 2 Chub

A hard days fishing. Conditions were frosty, cold and windy with gin clear waters. Struggled to get a bite at all but a cracking stretch...

2 Grayling

Fished from 10-3. Went for a swim at midday (first time this has happened in years ) after stripping off and wringing out my clothes worked my way up the beat, river is very low and there is lots of algae and weed on the bedrock... it is extremely slippery be warned! Nothing doing above or below until 2 and an olive hatch brought grayling, trout and a sizeable salmon to the surface. 5 grayling from 13"-15"..1 trout 10" all on the surface, Greenwells, Griffiths and Red Tag. Lost several big fish at the net and would have caught more but was shivering so much I couldn't thread a fly anymore....came home cold but satisfied I had stayed the distance!

1 Trout, 5 Grayling

1 x grayling 14 inches, plus various parr, trotting. I struggled today, in a very strong northerly and steadily falling temperature. I haven't trotted the Rectory before, so I assumed it would be necessary to roam around in an attempt to find some willing grayling. However, apart from one fish which took pity on me mid-afternoon, I failed to make contact. There is more to learn about this one I am sure. On this occasion it was the angling community, specifically RW from Boughrood, who rescued canoeists (a very pleasant young couple) after a capsize and ran them back to their car. Young couple subsequently suggested to give RW a bottle of wine, but I suggested another gift or a else make it a very good bottle (RW is a wine merchant).

1 Grayling

Fierce downstream wind made french nymphing a nightmare so a switch to Czech nymphing it was to be. nothing happening at all till about 2 pm when I saw several grayling move up to a feeding lane in one of the pools and amazingly olives started drifting by within minutes. there were a few splashy rises but the better fish were holding mid water so opted for duo nymphs with a 2mm jig on dropper and 1.5mm on point. All took 1.5mm point on size 18 jig hook. Size between 12-16 inches . I have never fished here before and I can only say it is stunning in every way. A few large salmon were showing one of which was 20lb+

11 Grayling

2nd day on the Wye and with the low clear conditions came the bright sun light all day. we had to sit it out until the bitter end, CH had the 2 barbel on boilies as the sun disappeared and an earlier 3lb trout on maggot, I had to settle for a small solitary chub

Members of the Welsh Rivers Team fished a very low river here on Sat. Quite a cold day, coupled with a strong wind meant the river was at times carpeted with leaves, difficult conditions to say the least! A good hatch of Large dark olives around midday however, had some fish looking up, and quite a few were taken on dries. Other than that, klink n dink, and nymphing methods produced the bulk of the fish. River badly needs a good flush through!

25 Trout, 22 Grayling

Very very cold day with bitter wind and bright sun. No fish hooked and two small rises noted. There were some upwings about though. Highlight of the day was a large salmon that kept behind me and nearly gave me heart failure.
