Perfect conditions on a beautiful beat. Despite employing all known tactics upstream, downstream, dry, nymph, wet, teams etc we only managed 1 x 10" oos trout and 1 x 12" grayling. In hindsight we maybe missed a trick by not putting enough colour on the nymph patterns. Great to get out of the office to enjoy Red Kites, Buzzards, Kingfishers and the lovely herd of black cattle.

Caught 2 grayling at the upper limit of the fishery but levels were much lower than anticipated which made presentation tough. Decided to knock it on the head until it's had a good flush through. Amazing how dynamic this part of the Arrow is and can't wait to get back.

We had a fantastic days fishing, the barbel were really feeding up for the winter, caught from all along the beat, this just might be our favourite beat!!

Very tough day, weather was contributing factor, clear skies overnight meant temp was 4 degrees and that with bright sunshine seemed to mean the fish were not feeding. We stuck it out until it was dark but one small chub was the only fish of the day. Two other anglers on the stretch failed to catch. Lovely spot however.

lovely day to fish, water at a half decent level and plenty of fly on the water but the grayling did not rise all day. fished duo at the heads of the pools and all fell to size 14 4mm tungsten bead on the dropper. Nothing interested with the size 16 or 18 on the point. All grayling between 12-17 inches and trout to 14 inches. A lovely beat with some excellent water but the wading is as stated, extremely difficult .

Fished on part of the GPAIAC waters from late morning until about 5 p.m. Started in mist but it soon became an absolutely beautiful, still, sunny autumn day. As hoped for under such favourable conditions, there were midge, and some olives from about 1 p.m., with more fish sipping late afternoon than earlier. Spent most of the time Czech nymphing, with all of the fish taken on a Duracell nymph but, later on, fished a size 18 pale HE Duck's Dun which caught not only the risers, but mainly non-risers. Took fish from 10-14". I thought I had caught a seriously good grayling at one point with a fish that tugged and kited but didn't run, only to discover that it was a cock salmon of just over 3 lb. Gutted! It too had taken the Duracell on the top dropper. Can't believe that most of the leaves are yet to fall and we are almost into November. Hopefully leaf-fall will as usual bring some bugs with it and keep the ladies looking up. What a wonderful Indian Summer so far! Long may it continue.
Cheers, Dave.

After 3 good days we failed to catch a fish today. Temperature: cold overnight and there were lots of Salmon moving. We stayed at the Falcon House which is highly recommended.
