7.00am start. Water very clear and sky bright ... well on my way to a blank at 11.00 and needed to leave for home when I got an attack of one last cast syndrome which paid off! A brownie of 1lb 3oz caught on a beaded hares ear using tenkara gear. Fast water, decent fish and 2lb leader on a fixed line length ... now that was fun :)

Water dropping off now had a 29" hen fish from the mill stream in the morning and a 37" cock fish from the rock pool that went absolutely crazy when it realised it was hooked !?

Arrived around 2pm and fished through until 8pm. Warm, overcast with occasional sunny spells. Low water levels made it tricky... mid afternoon in August is not prime Trout time. I've fished here earlier in the year, but many of the spots that fished well then were pretty dead this time around. They looked fishy, but nothing. Eventually things picked up at around 6pm. Managed 4 small (but beautiful) WBT on nymph off a Klinkhammer. Spotted a few fish and cast to them, but they just didn't seem interested.

The right bank - sorry reservation - has seen the arrival of the Kayak and Canoe tribe to their summer hunting grounds and their 'Tipee Adventure' arriving in their Jeep Cherokee's. They come in peace but not peacefully. I feel like I've paid an entrance fee to a themed Pocahontas and Hiawatha theme park rather than a days Salmon fishing. The residents splashing around in the water have sun-burnt arms and legs and wag their tails and bark – "Sorry mate, didn't see you there!" The Swans mass in the historic pools - who can blame them - safety in numbers. As for the Salmon, well they used to roam our great river in vast numbers like the great buffalo. I'm happy to take my chances and be washed off with good grace but surely the time has come to introduce a new OFF policy, I will leave it to you to choose the word preceding it!
