Our first time on the river, never did barbel fishing in the UK before. It was amazing.
The river was low and clear, the weather was really warm. The parking is really far from the bank (I would not leave any high value in the car) and it is next to the dual carriege way. Spots are tight (branches, rocks etc.) - as people said it needs clearing. Loads of weed in the water and massive rocks (we lost plenty leads because of this).
We started fisihing at 5:30 at the top and we caught our first barbel (9lb) at 6 o clock then another one (5lb) at 6:10. Nothing so far then until 12 o clock when we caught 3 barbels, one after each other. Our last one was at 19:00 which closely pinched my rod.
In total the day was amazing with 8 stunning fish (barbels) and I would reccommend this stretch on the other hand I could not imagine there will be that much canoist. Which is not a problem, but they were loud and annoying because they not really bothered if they took your line or played in the water next to your bait.. which was not really fair.

Another really hot day , river very low , only fished dusk and dawn here , didn't bother trying in the middle of the day , it's been hard on the Wye this week , we lost 2 fish and we all blanked , fish seem to be biting but not taking the bait , frustrating !

Great vehicle access, it is suited better for trout and salmon with shallow runs and deep pools holding salmon which pushed out the coarse fish. One swim was excellent which produced all the fish luckily for me. And no one else in the party caught fish.

Caught two perch, these fish are not supposed to be in this reservoir, if I wanted to do coarse fishing I'd of payed a lot less and gone somewhere else.

Had a wonderful 3lb Brown trout and another about half that weight ( on soft hackle dry ) as it was getting almost too dark to see. Hopeless dry, bright conditions, water level low.

Got to the water, at first thought it looked not bad. Dropped into water just above first Weir, could only go up about 50 yards and water got to deep and dark, went back clambered out tried going up through the wood, head high undergrowth, hugely over grown, just couldnt get to the water, turned round and went back, left and went to eardisland, nothing caught a couple a fish seen, racing away from me.
