River looked in good condition, fairly clear but not too low. Lost a nice grayling within five minutes of starting and took an hour to locate the next one. Fish were rising on and off but I stuck with nymphing tactics and caught a succession of grayling between 8 and 17 inches long. (The largest one I would guess was approaching the 2lb mark, if not just over) Also landed a very lively 12 inch brownie. Successful flies were red tag, pink beaded PTN and waterhen bloa fished on a conventional rod and reel with one 12 inch grayling taken on a tenkara rod armed with a partridge and orange. All fish returned.

Dry day and river running clear. Tried the wooded section first and had a few knocks but no true barbel bites so moved up to the field past the woods.
Had 1 barbel out, around 8lb, and lost 3 in the near bank weeds. All fish came within a 90 minute spell around midday. Moved to the first field by the fishing hut for the last couple of hours and had no bites whatsoever.

Tough day on a low clear river, overcast and damp. Fished from bottom field to the top field and struggled to find a many willing fish. Still had a great day on the beautiful wye. Stayed on lucksall camping - very clean and nice place.

The river at a good height and a few fish showing especially in the Vanstone, the upper Wires and the Dog Hole. Apart from one good chase at the lower Vanstone we didn't get much response.
Access is improved since my last visit and it is a lovely beat to fish, with the wading being particularly easy on gravel.
I lost my net above the wires seeing it drift off just tantalizingly faster than I could wade to catch it. My second sacrifice to the river Gods this year.

Our final day of the trip. Walked the beat and decided to fish the lower part. My friend had a great day catching 6 Barbel up to 10lb all on legered maggot with five fish lost due to the snaggy swim conditions. I blanked, though had three Barbel snag me up in a sunken Willow tree. Thanks again WUF. Hopefully back again next year where we'll try some new beats. That Wye Barbel double still eludes me —maybe next year.

River low and very clear fished most of the stretch and found the odd fish the best barbel went 7lb along with a 5lb fish, the best a chub around 4lb. This was the slowest day out of five booked so far, we have had a very good run this season. Another pleasant day on the bank.
Thank you

Fishing slow, only 2 takes all day. Access difficult with only 2 or 3 swims available and we weren't informed about cardiac hill!
