The rain of the previous day had little impression on the river, hardly a tinge of color. A good flow, presumably as a result of water being let out the the dams - this was quite cold! All the fish (best 1.5lbs) came to deep sunk nymphs, mainly in the deep channel section, using a Tenkara rod. No rise to speak of, despite Sedges flying above the water almost all day. As always a lovely way to spend a day in beautiful countryside, watching Kingfishers, Herons and Red Kites.

Almost unfishable due to low water level. Took me 90 mins to cover whole beat. A feisty trout of 11" was very welcome though, taken from a deep fast run.
8" Grayling also taken from a rare bit of fast water.
Access in and out of river is tricky, several fallen trees across the river don't help. How hard can it be Wye & Usk Foundation to get the local farmer to drag them out with his tractor? If these beats were more accessible and angler friendly you might get more bookings perhaps?

River low as expected, day overcast with sunny periods at times. Two of us fished the bottom pool and had 25 small barbel , up to about two pounds on pellet, some bigger fish were lost. Bites came all day on feeder and some were taking the bait just as the feeder was settling. The other in our party fished the salmon crib on the wyebank pool and had 4 small barbel 1 chub and two eels also on pellets. The only downside was that although there were paths to the various pegs, we found it a lot more strenuous than we had expected ( two over 60 and one over 70). Perhaps we will seriously have to reduce the amount of tackle we carry on future occasions. All in all a very enjoyable day.

Arrived at 6am to find the river low and clear , despite the rain that fell in the catchment area the previous day. I elected to fish off the Wood Crib using an inline feeder and Krill pellets. Had a few knocks very early on then no action at all until the evening - tried various rig feeder/rig changes to no avail during the day - delighted to catch a couple of chub in the last hour when the light was fading. An angler who arrived a little later than I, who fished the next crib downstream, faired better by fishing tight to the opposite bank. A very scenic beat and an enjoyable day.

Fished two swims in the woods between us and caught 9 "proper" barbel to 9lb 4oz, as well as numerous small barbel and chub (which we didn't keep count of). Bites were patchy and we never got the impression that the fish were feeding in earnest. All caught on feeder and pellet, fishing close to the far bank.

Thought Tuesday's rain would lift the river level, it did but not enough. So the salmon rod was left in the car. Both of us failed to connect with any fish. Very sunny, downstream wind. Very little fly life and no fish showing. So these two old duffers failed to catch and fish. Thursday we fished the Builth town water and again failed to catch.
A lot of fly life on the fly run but nothing rising to them.
I stayed in the white horse , very pleasant.

First visit to this stretch and fished from 1pm till 9pm. River low and clear. Started off about half way along the stretch on the faster swims, and had 1 barbel about 4lb at 3pm, caught on 12mm pellet and straight lead.
Then moved to the top swim about 5pm and fished meat catching 1 chub. I then moved back down a couple of swims at 7pm and fished meat to catch 2 small chub and 2 barbel about 7lb/ 8 lb which made my day.
All fish were in great condition and the barbel fought really well. There's only a short walk to the parking and it's a nice peaceful stretch. Some of the pegs are on a slope so would be easy to fall in when its wet, and you need a long landing net handle in some places.
A great day and I would fish this stretch again. Thank you WUF.
