An enjoyable beat to fish. I had no takes and therefore no fish either but this is likely my inexperience at river fishing. I tried numerous winged flies and nymphs but without success.
In the up stream slow river areas there were good fishing taking on the surface.
It is slightly difficult to access the river but there are enough entry points and I walked a fair way once into the water. I would fish this beat again

Well a good day was had by DH and myself, the former catching a record 35 fish, mostly trout to 1 1/2lb. I caught my second Wye salmon of the week! This was a 12lb hen fish. She was a little thin and with some colour. She need some oxygenation before swimming off.
The split second she took my fly I slipped and fell in! Just what you want.... When trying to put her back in the water, I had become entangled with my line and it tripped me up, and I fell in again, this time whilst holding a salmon!! Only after when I went to retrieve my rod did I notice that the tripping incident had snapped my rod in two sections..... s**t...

What a ridiculous day. I am in no way an expert fisherman, but somehow I managed to catch 51 fish! It was crazy.
This is yet another beautiful location, this time on the small but perfectly formed River Lugg. Fast sections, slow sections, deep blue pools, lazy meanders… it has it all. It was overcast all day, with the odd occasional bit of drizzle. I fished from approx. 10am to 8pm using the tried and tested Klinkhammer indicator with gold headed nymphs of differing varieties. I was really after WBT but the river is obviously teeming with Grayling too. I worked from the lower end of the beat to the bridge (where you park) up to about 2pm, then had some lunch and then fished the upper section… and the fish just kept coming. I missed plenty too. A day to remember.
