First visit to Craig Llyn, and it won't be the last. Lovely stretch of varied water, but wading is difficult to say the least in some pools. A productive day with 5 trout to 1 1/2 lb and 4 grayling to 2 1/2. A few lost as ever, and a few other knocks. Great day in all, and will definitely be back.

Some algae in the river which is clearing, the level was fine for fishing and is falling again. There are fish there especially the Corner Stone and the Van Stone pools but they were not interested in a fly.

Conditions seemed good, a little colour in the water, fish showing - none taking. Lovely beat.

Lovely looking beat and has easy wading for most of its length and plenty of room if (like me) your casting is less than perfect. Thing is, it is quite deceptive. It looks like a lot of water but an awful lot of it is ankle-deep runs over gravel and stones. You really need to know WHERE to fish.
Temperature was c21c, overcast and the wind had miraculously dropped, so conditions were good. Water rather low for the time of year. Plenty of tiny terrestrials around and the odd aquatic insect but nothing rising other than the odd sprat. Tried a parachute Adams, a Klinkhamer and then the Duo with a deer hair emerger and a goldhead GRHE. I thought I was being reasonably stealthy but had no takes. A deceptively hard beat, I think. Saw a heron and a Kingfisher but it is a pretty expensive method of birdwatching...

Absolutely stunning river. As mentioned below can be a bit tricky to access, and water is high in places, chest waders are a must. Be prepared to be scrambling up the bank multiple times to get round high water.
Starting fishing around 1200 on a warm, dry day. River was low and clear. No fish rising for first few hours, despite Mayfly hatches and an abundance of insect life. Missed two bites on a black Klinkhammer and CDC in some of the fast water.
Around 1500 started to see fish rising half way up the beat. This continued for another 3+ hours. Caught 1X7inch Grayling on Rusty Klinkhammer (missed another 5). 3XWBT, best being 13 inch. All caught on Klinkhammer variations.
Great days fishing on a stunning piece of river.
