River very low and clear. Plenty of very small barbel caught using standard feeder methods and halibut pellets or boilies. Canoeists an absolute nightmare, a small but considerable number could not control the canoes they had hired and took out my lines on more than one occasion. Rude and abusive idiots that very nearly ruined the day. The hire companies are to blame mainly as that let anyone get on the river with no knowledge or skill whatsoever.
In addition I had to ask several different groups of people to leave the fishery after they had moored up close to where my father and I were fishing. Some were utterly ignorant and apologetic but left, others were rude, abusive and ignorant but still left after some 'encouragement' and language suitable for the situation. This was the first of two bookings. I did not fish the second booked date.

Water very low and crystal clear. Only managed one fish, but, it was a stocky 12" wbt taken in a gold head hares ear in fast water - this will probably be my best wild stream fish of the year!

Fished here before and had varying success in different conditions. Today's tally was way above our expectations. Chose a good looking area today and we fished our simple method of bomb and pellet again and just catapulted pellets in the right place all day to keep fish interested. Started mid day until dusk as usual and caught steadily with a better spell in the evening. The barbel scrapped well and we had some chunky specimens with plenty in the 7lb to 8lb range.
Nice to get the centrepin screeching too! Nice to watch the heron hunting and a kingfisher doing well too. Must be a great river for them to survive on.
Another memorable day on the Wye.

A fairly tough day due to bright conditions and a low river. Winkled out a few chub throughout the day before the barbel fed after 7pm.

Best day ever including my first 10!, 3 nines and an eight. Whole day was a bit of an experiment trying out some pellet rig changes recommended by a popular Wye guide so the plan was for a short session but what a session. River was low and clear with the usual canoeists all of whom behaved brilliantly.
Great day. Will be back for more.

A hot bright day, started at dawn to try and beat the canoeist's and blazing sun...... two coloured fish seen jumping, alas no fish caught. Packed it in at 10.00am.......
WUF Note: there is a different arrangement for canoeing this stretch - canoeing takes place out of season and during spates

River very low indeed. We were able to hold bottom with 2 and 2.5oz feeders fished across the river next to far bank cover which is where the barbel were. Nothing much caught in more open water. Most of the fish were in the 4-6lb bracket with three touching 9lbs. We fished two of only three swims we could find. Gratifying to see some effort has been made for access to these swims by the installation of some steps - same spot my friend fell down last year and dislocated his shoulder!
A picturesque stretch marred only by the severe lack of swims, which is a shame because there is some interesting water which is just completely inaccessible.
